Tesco launches Sunday roast sandwich as part of new classic British range

Tesco has launched a special sandwich that contains all the ingredients of the traditional Sunday roast between two slices of malted bread.

Filled with slices of roast chicken, new potatoes, parsnip puree and pork stuffing, the Roast Chicken Dinner sarni has been created as a "special treat for those people who can’t wait all week long for their Sunday roast" and is part of the retailer’s new British sandwich range, which went on sale at Tesco supermarkets on Monday (September 19).

Tesco said the new range, which also includes beef and Dorset ale and hog roast spread with Kentish cider chutney, comes in response to booming demand for classic British food and traditional dishes made popular by celebrity chefs .

"Demand for traditional British dishes is currently going through the roof," Tesco's food developer, Kathryn Bettles said.

She added: "This new range has been launched with autumn and winter in mind and will hopefully prove to be popular in the coming cold months ahead."

The classic British sarni’s are sold in distinctive Union Jack packaging and cost between £1.60 and £2.50.
