Tesco is offering its festive shoppers the chance to enjoy a complete family Christmas dinner for less than £8.
The supermarket giant has revealed that a family of four will be able to pick up a Tesco Christmas dinner for just £7.93 - less than the average price of a fish dinner for two.
Tesco claims that a family of four can currently purchase traditional Christmas food items such as carrots, turkey, stuffing and potatoes for less than in 2007 and 2003, as retailers continue to cut prices in response to an increasing number of value-seeking consumers.
"There is a myth that the cost of serving up a Christmas dinner for all the family is the most expensive meal of the year but Tesco proves that it needn't be," commented Tesco spokesman Jonathan Church.
The Tesco offer comes as supermarket comparison site mySupermarket.co.uk revealed that the price of 24 staple goods has risen by an average of 17.8 per cent in the past year.
