Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is to launch an advertising campaign for supermarket giant Sainsburys, aimed at providing good-value nutritious recipes for budget-conscious families.
Sainsbury's ‘Feed Your Family For A Fiver’ campaign will offer shoppers recipes with ingredients costing less in real terms than "century-old prices" for families of four or five, the retailer announced.
"I have always been concerned about families trying to eat well on a budget and this initiative by Sainsbury's goes a long way to helping those who are counting the pennies," commented Oliver .
Oliver, who pockets 1.2 million a year as the face of Sainsbury's, said the series of recipes will begin with meatballs and spaghetti, followed by other recipes such as bangers and mash and chilli con carne .
A full list of recipes, ingredients for the meals and their prices will be listed on shopping tip cards for customers both in-store and online at Sainsburys.co.uk .
Sainsbury's own- brand director, Judith Batchelar, said: "Britain may be tightening its belt this year but the family members who enjoy our £5 feasts won't be left hungry."
