A Supermarket is to sell low-fare airline flights for the first time.
German-owned Lidl will sell flight vouchers at every one of its 300-plus UK stores next month.
The vouchers will be for Air Berlin flights from five UK airports, including Stansted, and can be purchased for £19 for a flight valued at £69.
The move will make Lidl the first food retailer in the country to sell low-cost airline flights.
The promotion will last for a week from September 5 and no specific Lidl product purchase is necessary to buy a flight voucher.
"This is a first for retailing in the UK and we are absolutely delighted to be expanding our existing range of weekly offers and extending it into a new sector. Not only are we making air travel more accessible, we are making it even cheaper," says Tony Parker, Lidl's company director.
The vouchers are for flights from Stansted, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and Bournemouth.
Destinations include Berlin, Copenhagen, Majorca, Milan, Rome and Vienna .
