Waitrose has announced plans to launch a line of value beauty products as it looks to extend its popular Essentials range.
The new line will consist of haircare, skincare and bath and shower products such as cleansing facial wipes, shower gel, bath crème, soap bars, shampoo, conditioner and hand soap .
Waitrose said all of the products are made using special ingredients and scents including, jojoba, chamomile, ginger, clementine and vanilla .
The upmarket grocer added that each of the new items will retail for 99p, except for the facial wipes (£1.45 per pack), meaning that shoppers won’t have to “splash out” to afford all their basic beauty goods.
The Waitrose Essentials range was launched in March in an effort to stop cash-strapped customers leaving the supermarket for its cheaper competitors.
The introduction of the basics range helped boost company sales during the six months to 1 August, increasing the retailer’s share of the UK grocery market to 4 per cent.
