Ocado to bring goat meat to the world of online grocery shopping

A boom in popularity of a certain meat has led one supermarket to become the first to stock it in the UK.
To some people, the idea of eating goat may be a bit strange, but in places around the world, such as the Caribbean or in India, it is a normal and relished food.
There has been a growing trend in restaurants and with celebrity chefs throughout the country to serve the meat, and it has been met with popularity.
Ocado, as a result, are now going to stock goat and kid meat.
In fact, it is thought that 70 per cent of the global population eat goat meat, so it is surprising it has taken so long to come to the UK.
It is thought that eventually kid meat could challenge lamb as a favourite on our dinner tables.
Andrew Ayres of Ocado is reported explaining “We are in the early stages of adding goat meat to our range as we have seen this as a big trend coming out of the UK’s top restaurants.”
The meat is quite a versatile one, and is likely to be sold in the form of sausages, meatballs, joints, chops and marinated forms.
It is especially used worldwide in curries.
Ocado could well be the trend setters, picking up where the restaurants have started, and kick start a rollout of goat products across all the superstores. We will have to wait and see if the big four, Tesco, Morrisons, Asda and Sainsbury’s follow suit.
