Tesco and Waitrose launch click and collect services

Two supermarkets have launched click-and-collect services across the London Underground.
Tesco and Waitrose have signed a deal with the capital’s transport authority and the stores will initially trial the scheme in six locations. The deal will enable customers to pick up their shopping from underground stations, having previously made and paid for their order online.
Waitrose said it was planning to install lockers inside stations and will reveal the locations once all the details have been finalised.
Tesco announced its delivery vans will be located in station car parks from next month and customers will be able to collect their orders from the vans.
Managing director of London Underground Mike Brown said the deal was “a fantastic opportunity for us to work with commercial partners to deliver products and services that our customers want”.
Tesco’s managing director for London said the additional London pick-up locations will provide even greater flexibility for its customers, as they will now have more options to collect their shopping at a time and location that’s most convenient to them.
Waitrose ecommerce director Robin Phillips added the store would continue to invest in making sure its customers have what they want, when they want it.
