Tesco has cut the price of its unlimited broadband package to £2 per month.
In order to get the service, which also includes free evening and weekend calls, customers have to take Tesco line rental at £14.90 a month for a minimum of one year.
Consumers choosing to sign up will also benefit by receiving a Tesco Clubcard point for every £1 spent, with technical support for the service housed in a UK-based call centre.
More than 70 per cent of UK residents will be applicable for the new scheme and it is hoped the move will start a price war among large consumer internet companies, who are increasingly adding download caps in order to add value to unlimited broadband services.
A spokesperson for Tesco Broadband said: “Slashing our broadband prices again this year means that for just £2 a month British families can download music, play games online and stream films to their heart’s content.”
Customers who choose to buy into the new deal will be able to opt out without any penalties within three months if they are not happy with the service.
