Sainsburys announces Tu relaunch

The Sainsbury’s supermarket chain has announced a new relaunch of its major clothing label – Tu.
Newly designed dresses, handbags and coats will be part of the new range, which is expected to be released in time for this year’s Autumn/Winter season.
“Live Their Style” is the new slogan for the brand and it is expected to be rolled out to nearly 400 stores across the UK. A new branding and packaging look will also be created to accommodate the collection.
This investment represents the largest in Sainsbury’s fast growing clothes business, although it is thought sales have been eclipsed by offers from other supermarkets – such as George from ASDA and F&F from Tesco.
However, prices will still be low for consumers, with leather handbags costing £35, lambswool jumpers £20 and a stylised cocoon coat £50.
James Brown, Sainsburys clothing director, said: “After an outstanding performance over the past couple of years it’s the right time for a significant investment in the brand.”
Tu was launched in 2004 and last year generated annual sales of around £680 million.
