Carlisle supermarket sees relaunch

Morrison’s supermarket in Carlisle has undergone a relaunch.
The store has had a £500,000 facelift that has seen the addition of a new Craft Skills Academy, which will help develop the skills of butchers and bakers from across Cumbria, according to the News and Star.
Dozens of apprentices are expected to take up the opportunities in engaging with traditional roles and many will go on to have full jobs at the chain.
One of the latest recruits, Aaron Burgess, has progressed to become a counter supervisor after he completed the programme and praised the project.
“I think that learning on the job from someone who really knows what they’re doing is the best experience you can get … the Craft Skills Academy will encourage other people to learn a proper trade,” he said.
Morrisons has become well known for its fresh produce counters and each store will normally have a fully-equipped bakery, butchers, fishmongers and pizza kitchen.
The Craft Skills Academy will also train a number of students in wine and food matching in the coming months.
