ASDA pledges support for Transplant Week

The ASDA supermarket chain has pledged its support for the NHS National Transplant Week, which starts on July 8th.
Only one-third of people in the UK are currently on the Organ Donor Register and the Leeds-based grocer wants to do all it can to increase the number of its customers who are able to donate an organ in the event of their death.
To support the campaign, ASDA has released a new bag for life that is available in all of its supermarkets across the country. The carrier costs just 6p and gives vital contact information on how people can sign up to the register.
Fiona Lambert, brand director of the grocer’s in-house fashion brand George, said: “This campaign is very close to my heart. By raising awareness of the importance of organ donation amongst our ASDA colleagues and customers we are hoping [to] encourage more people to sign up to the register.”
Ms Lambert added the chain is already leading the way when it comes to raising awareness for the life-saving procedure.
