Residents of Broughton Astley in Leicestershire have welcomed the announcement Morrisons is building a new supermarket in the area.
The store will be 15,000 sq ft and constructed east of Broughton Way, while it is also set to generate around 150 new employment opportunities, the Harborough Mail reports.
A range of goods and services will be on offer at the site, such as the chain’s flagship Fresh Market that includes butcher, fishmonger and fresh food counters.
After proposals of the new supermarket were announced on Monday (February 18th), development chief executive at Morrisons James Smith stated the company is excited to bring its passion and love for good produce to Broughton Astley.
“We’re committed to providing a top-quality shopping experience and are delighted that we’ll be able to provide this with a brand new state of the art store for existing and future local residents to enjoy,” he was quoted as saying.
This comes after the chain was found to come fourth in a customer poll of the best and worst UK supermarkets, beating rivals Sainsbury’s and Asda.
