Work is set to begin on a new Booths supermarket store in the coming weeks.
The Blackpool-based chain has backed ongoing regeneration work in Poulton-le-Flyde and said it will initiate construction on its latest outlet as soon as possible.
Bosses at the firm say that remedial work will begin straight away, while an existing car park in the area will be improved through new surfacing and lighting, according to the Blackpool Gazette.
Councillor Peter Gibson, whose ward is affected by the new changes, commented: “When a company like Booths is prepared to make a massive investment in Poulton it shows what a bright future it has when you consider other developments in the town like Wetherspoons.”
Supermarkets are increasingly being used by local authorities as part of wider regeneration efforts.
In Watford, Tesco recently (August 8th) announced the unveiling of a brand new shopping and leisure centre, which includes a community space that customers can use for free.
