Two supermarket giants have announced they are reducing their petrol prices.
Asda and Sainsbury’s both revealed a cut in fuel costs following a fall in global oil prices – and the development is likely to spell good news for motorists throughout the UK.
The two chains said they are slashing up to 2p a litre off their petrol costs from today (October 25th), Wales Online reports.
Jeremy Walton, head of petrol trading at Asda, claimed his store always aims to be the first in the country to bring down prices when purchasing costs tumble, while also being the last to raise them back up.
Richard Crampton, head of fuel at Sainsburys, stated: “We’re always looking for ways to help our customers save money, particularly as we head towards the festive season.”
Mr Crampton added the supermarket is therefore delighted to be able to reduce petrol costs for its customers at this time.
Head of public affairs at the AA Paul Watters welcomed the news, but noted it is important that the rest of the market reflects these lower costs.
