Residents on the Isle of Wight look set to benefit from the opening of a new supermarket.
Southern Co-operative has announced plans to relocate its Freshwater store in order to introduce a larger outlet offering more choice for its customers, the Isle of Wight County Press reports.
The shop is currently located at Hooke Hill, but the move would see it shifting across the road to bigger premises at Hocknull’s Yard and the former West Island Printers site.
Tony McGuinness, manager of the store, explained the current outlet simply does not have the space to meet demand from local residents.
Mr McGuinness stated: “A new store will give us more space so we can offer a bigger range of products, especially fresh and local food.”
He explained the move will also result in other advantages for customers, including improved parking facilities and an overall better service.
A planning application for the construction of the supermarket is to be submitted following the outcome of a public consultation on the matter.
The event is taking place on October 25th at the West Wight Sports Centre and will allow residents to put their opinions across on the proposals laid out before them.
