Supermarket giant Tesco is revamping its range of meat, fish and poultry with new quality standards and refreshed branding.
Coming as part of the chain’s £1 billion shopping experience improvement programme, the multimillion-pound initiative will see the quality of its beef, lamb, pork, chicken, fish, sausages, bacon, burgers and meatballs enhanced.
For example, its Tesco Finest beef steaks and joints are now matured for 28 days, while all Finest chicken will be taken from free range corn-fed stock and all burgers and meatballs will contain more meat.
New signage and packaging for these products will be rolled out over the coming weeks, while staff are being trained and recruited specifically to raise standards in this area.
Tesco’s meat, fish and poultry director Derek Lawlor said: “Customers have told us that meat, fish and poultry are really important items on their weekly shopping lists, so we’ve worked hard to refresh our range and improve the shopping experience in store.”
Last week, the firm introduced a new commuter zone on its grocery website, making it easier for customers to get everything they need for a busy working week.
