Asda supermarket announces Christmas fuel price cuts

Asda has announced it is to reduce the price of fuel in time for Christmas.
The supermarket said it hopes that by cutting 1p a litre off the cost of unleaded and 2p a litre off diesel, customers will enjoy some much-needed relief at a traditionally expensive time of year.
These cuts are being implemented in petrol stations across the UK from today (Thursday December 13th), with the new national price standing at 135.7p a litre for diesel and 128.7p a litre for unleaded.
Asda noted the reductions have come in response to lessening wholesale costs, explaining it has immediately passed on these savings to customers.
Andy Peake, petrol trading director at the chain, said: “With Christmas just around the corner and finances tighter than ever, we’re pleased we can do our bit to make our customers’ hard-earned cash go a little further.”
Mr Peake observed the supermarket is keen to put money back into the pockets of drivers regardless of where they fill up, adding other retailers should follow the example set by Asda at this special time of year.
