Supermarket giant Asda has made the cost of owning an eReader device even cheaper after cutting the price of the hugely popular Kobo to under £50.
Consumers can now get their hands on the standard wireless Kobo eReader for just £49 at Asda stores nationwide, or £52 if ordered online via Asda Direct (including delivery) – less than half its start-of-year retail price of £107.
The latest price cut makes the tablet considerably cheaper than its rival, the Amazon Kindle e-Reader, which itself costs a modest £89 – rising to £109 for the Kindle Touch .
The Kobo eReader has the same screen as the market-leading Kindle (a 6-inch E-ink screen) and offers access to a virtual library of 2.5 million books – the largest eBook catalogue in the UK.
It comes preloaded with 100 “timeless” classics and has enough memory (1GB) to store up to 2,000 titles, though this can be expanded via an SD Memory card .
