Tesco has launched a major Christmas promotions campaign, which it claims will save customers around £1.3 billion over the festive period.
The supermarket giant will offer around £800 million worth of festive price cuts and promotions in the run-up to Christmas, starting from next week. This will include special deals on a wide range of groceries and up to 50 per cent price reductions on toys, bikes, TVs and Christmas decorations .
Vouchers worth £200 million will be sent to members of its Clubcard loyalty scheme with their November account statement, followed by a further £70 million in December. The vouchers will allow members to double the value of their loyalty points on certain products in-store.
Clubcard holders will also receive a further £200 million worth of coupons with their statements.
Tesco estimates that the move, will comes three weeks earlier than last year’s festive savings campaign last year, will save each of its 16 million Clubcard members an average of £80.
“We know customers are feeling the pinch right now but that’s all the more reason to make sure everyone can enjoy this special time to the full,” said Richard Brasher, Tesco’s Commercial and Marketing Director.
“We will offer the best value in the marketplace at a time when many households are looking to make savings .”
“The £1.3 billion in real value we’re giving to customers this Christmas is a great way of saying thank-you – customers know that no-one tries harder for them all year round than Tesco .”
