Waitrose Delivers Impressive Grocery Market Growth

Waitrose delivered strong sales growth in the 12 weeks to November, according to the latest supermarket industry figures from Kantar Worldpanel.
Sales at the John Lewis-owned supermarket rose by 8.6 per cent year-on-year during the three-month period, and follow on from impressive growth reported during the same period last year.
As a result, Waitrose’s share of the UK grocery market increased by 0.2 per cent compared to twelve months ago, according to the Kantar figures.
Edward Garner, Communications Director at Kantar Worldpanel, said: “The Waitrose growth of 8.6 per cent continues to impress, particularly when set against the growth of 12.3 per cent we saw a year ago.”
Meanwhile, Waitrose has announced the launch of its 2010 Christmas advertising campaign.
The “recipe for great food” TV campaign features celebrity chefs Heston Blumenthal and Delia Smith giving showing how to make their signature festive puddings .
Waitrose has also put together a £10 pack of ready-weighed ingredients to help customers make Delia Smith’s 40-year old Christmas cake recipe.
The Christmas cake kit will go on sale in Waitrose stores today.
