Waitrose has opened the doors to its first smaller format convenience store in the UK.
The new Cambridge store has a strong focus on fresh food and food for those on the go, including fresh baguettes, salads, fresh fruit, deli products and individually wrapped cakes .
Shoppers can also choose from a wide range of ready made meals, meat, fish and vegetables .
Recipe sheets with serving suggestions are also available throughout the store to encourage customers to try something new.
The smaller format grocery store is part of Waitrose’s ambitious plans to expand into the convenience sector and reach a wider audience.
The supermarket chain has already opened four larger convenience stores (5,000-7,000 sq. ft.) in Nottingham, Bristol, Crouch End in north London, and Oxted, Surrey, but the new shop in Cambridge is the first smaller store (3,000 sq. ft.) to open under the retailer’s convenience store network.
