More Medals Success For Sainsburys Own Brand Spirits

Sainsbury’s is celebrating after being awarded 11 medals at The International Wine and Spirit Competition.
The retailer collected more medals than any other supermarket, scooping two Gold ‘best in class’ medals for its Dún Léire Single Malt eight-year-old Irish Whiskey and Superior Dark Rum, along with another Gold for its Taste The Difference 12-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskey .
Judges also awarded Sainsburys five silver medals and three bronzes for a selection of its finest own-brand spirits .
“These medals recognise the hard work that goes into creating our great own brand spirits,” commented Justin James, category manager for beers, wines and spirits .
“We source from the very best suppliers in the world who have a real passion for their product, and working with the experts has really paid off.”
The International Wine and Spirit medals add to last month’s success at the Quality Drink Awards 2010, where Sainsbury’s own-brand wines came top in three product categories.
The supermarket chain also collected ten medals at International Spirits Challenge 2010.
