Supermarket chain Asda is to launch a new Facebook photo service that allows customers to print photos directly from their online account.
Specialised photo kiosks are being added to Asda’s 187 in-store photo centres as part of an exclusive three-month deal with Fuji and PNI Digital Media.
The kiosks will allow people to print off their Facebook pics, create customised collages and design gift items such as calendars.
Jeremy Stacey, camera and photo manager at Asda, said: “Billions of photos are uploaded to social sites every month. This is an easy method to access and print these images.”
Asda said it may extend the photo service to include other social networking sites such as Twitter and MySpace.
Facebook is the world’s largest social networking site with more than 500 million active users, including 26 million in the UK.
According to a new study, the website now accounts for one in six of all webpage views in the UK.
