Asda Drops Fuel Prices For Bank Holiday Weekend

Asda has sparked yet another fuel price war after cutting the cost of unleaded petrol and diesel by a further one pence per litre.
The latest cuts, which come in time for the Bank Holiday weekend, means motorists filling up at Asda’s supermarket forecourts will be charged no more 110.9p a litre for unleaded and 113.9p for diesel.
Tesco has responded by pledging to match Asda’s 1p per litre price cut, while Sainsburys and Morrisons have also said they will lower their costs locally to match their rivals.
The move by Asda comes just a week after it slashed the cost of unleaded fuel by 1p per litre and diesel by 2p per litre.
“When it comes to petrol pricing we keep it simple – we try to be the first to drop and the last to put them up, wherever you live,” said Phil Briggs, Asda’s Commercial Director.
“While others are happy to hold onto higher prices for longer, and even inflate them locally where they can get away with it – we believe the right thing to do is have consistently low prices every day, everywhere”.
