Morrisons Withdraws Unhelpful Educational Toys

Morrisons has been forced to withdraw a set of educational aids from all its UK stores due to a series of spelling errors.
Designed to help to stimulate and educate young minds, the product consists of 26 alphabet building blocks, each with a letter of the alphabet and a word that starts with that letter.
However, one Morrisons shopper noticed that the learning bricks were being sold by the supermarket with a number of embarrassing spelling mistakes, including a picture of an umbrella captioned ‘Umberlla’, a boat accompanied with the word ‘Yatch’ and even an ‘X Mas Tree’.
Suzanne Toulson complained to her local Morrisons store in Duckinfield, Greater Manchester after buying the alphabet blocks for her nine-month old granddaughter Millie.
But despite the obvious spelling mistakes, the store initially refused to take the toy off the shelves, saying that replacement toys without the errors were on order but stores would continue to sell them until existing stocks had run dry.
The 60-year-old said: “I took the bricks to the manager. They are very much presented as educational toys and I told him that they simply didn’t do their job .”
“When I contacted their customer services, they told me that new stocks were on their way but they were not going to withdraw the ones with mistakes but let them ‘fizzle out’ instead. I couldn’t believe their attitude.”
“That’s what really annoyed me, once they were aware of the mistake they weren’t prepared to do anything about it.”
“I was offered a refund three times, but I was more interested in getting these toys off the shelves because the spelling was wrong.”
She added: “I have been back to my local store and there are at least a dozen toys on the shelves which still have the same mistake.”
Morrisons has since changed its decision over the £3.22 learning aids . A spokeswoman said: “The children’s soft blocks have been withdrawn from sale in all stores. Customers can return the products to store for a full refund.”
“Morrisons apologises for any inconvenience caused and the issue is being investigated with suppliers .”
