Britain’s supermarkets are launching a range of cheap luxury meals for couples celebrating Valentines Day .
Tesco is offering shoppers the chance to wine and dine this weekend for under £10. The supermarket’s latest low-price offering includes a main dish, a side, dessert and a bottle of wine (or Prosecco) for two from the Tesco Finest range, all for £9.
The luxury meal-for-two deal is essentially a £1 cheaper version of Marks and Spencer’s highly successful ‘Eat in for £10′ offer.
Commercial director Richard Brasher said: “The Finest meal for two offer means customers can enjoy a special meal with a decent bottle of wine for a fraction of the cost of going out.”
Not to be outdone, Marks and Spencer is offering a £20 ‘Love In’ deal, which includes a bottle of Cava or wine, a main course, starter, side dish and pudding for two plus a real red rose .
For the same price, Asda shoppers can pick up a Valentine’s card, a chemise from the George lingerie range, a box of chocolates and a plastic rose .
At Sainsburys, Valentine’s Day customers can purchase a bottle of Codorniu Cava and a box of Thorntons chocolate for £10, a reduction of almost 50 per cent on their individual retail price.
Waitrose is also offering Valentines meal deals with money off selected champagnes and sparkling wines . For £10, couples can share a three-course meal, or enjoy brunch for a fiver.
