Tesco is offering its Clubcard holders double points in a bid to improve customer loyalty.
Under the supermarket’s loyalty scheme, shoppers will now receive two points for every £1 spent in stores or online, which can be used at partnering restaurants, cinemas and attractions.
Tesco’s latest Clubcard promotion, which is being accompanied by a nationwide TV and press advertising campaign, comes just three months after the launch of its successful ‘Double Up’ scheme.
The scheme doubled reward points on selected items and helped attract nearly half a million new Clubcard customers nationwide.
Commenting on the second change to the Clubcard scheme this year, Carolyn Bradley, Tesco’s UK Marketing Director said: “The UK’s biggest and best loyalty scheme just got even better for customers who stand to double their rewards simply by continuing to shop at Tesco .”
“No other supermarket offers customers the low prices and great promotions they want as well as a big thank you for shopping .”
She added that the move was not a panic measure designed to reignite sales, despite analysts’ claims of the sort.
“We don’t do panic measures,” she stressed. “It’s a very carefully considered investment for customers. We acknowledge that the market is very difficult and customers are feeling the pinch.”
