Sainsburys Introduces Points Scheme For Fruit And Veg Shoppers

Sainsbury’s has launched a new reward scheme in an attempt to boost sales of fruit and veg .
Britain’s third largest supermarket retailer has joined forces with medical insurer PruHealth to reward shoppers and PruHealth policyholders with the opportunity to earn vitality points when buying fresh fruit and vegetables at any of its 779 UK stores .
Policyholders will earn one point for every two pounds spent on fresh produce and will be capped at 10 points a week and 20 points a week per family .
The total amount of vitality points collected over the course of a year by each policyholder can then be offset against their health insurance premiums upon renewal the following year.
“We are always looking at opportunities to encourage our customers to lead healthier lifestyles,” commented Sainsbury’s head of loyalty, Leigh Rengger.
“This scheme rewards customers for eating healthily and is an innovative tie-up that enhances our pledge to get people to eat their five a day .”
