Grand designs for Home Stores by Co-Op

The Co-Operative Group is looking to expand their Home Stores formats selling home-wares, furniture and electrical goods. They have entered into an exclusive deal with designer Kevin McCloud, presenter of Grand Designs on Channel 4.
The aim is to sell products that will be sourced by McCloud’s company called Place.
The Co-Op has announced their intention to invest another £3million to open two new Home Stores in addition to the pilot stores in Tunbridge Wells and Perth.
The company said the locations for the new stores had not been decided but they did have a shortlist of areas. One criterion for the stores is that they must have at least 30,000 square feet of floor space on each floor and be in a position with space for parking.
Paul Denham Co-Op Home Store general manager said, “The results from the two pilot stores have been encouraging and our decision to open two further outlets shows our determination to have a clear Co-operative proposition in this competitive marketplace.”
