Festive shoppers looking to get their hands on the new Kobo e-reader should head to Asda after the supermarket chain announced that it will sell the device at a discount this Christmas .
From Friday, customers will be able to pick up the popular device in-store and online at asda.com for as little as £67 for the WiFi model and £107 for the Touch version representing a £20 saving off the most recent retail price point.
The Kobo wireless e-reader has rapidly becoming a serious contender to the Amazon Kindle e-reader, which currently retails for £89.
The slim and lightweight device offers users access to 1 million titles via the Kobo online store and comes pre-loaded with 100 classic e-books . Like the Kindle, it has a 6" glare-free e-ink display, along with 1GB of internal storage and an SD card slot for extra storage.
Asda said the discount offer is part of its initiative to make reading more affordable and accessible.
Duncan Tate, the companys technology expert, said: "The Kobo e-reader has received rave reviews and we're delighted to be able to offer it to customers at this breakthrough price before Christmas ."
