Broadband bundle prices cheaper in the UK

Britons have access to cheaper broadband packages than their European counterparts, according to Ofcom.

After examining the prices of a typical package of communications services - home phone, broadband and pay TV – the UK’s media regulator said broadband bundle consumers are getting a relatively good deal compared to those in France, Germany, Italy, Spain and even the US.

The finding comes despite average bundle prices in the UK rising by 10 per cent between 2010 and 2011, the watchdog added.

A recent study by Computeractive revealed that many British consumers can cut their broadband package bills further by comparing mobile and broadband providers and switching to an alternative deal.

The magazine’s research found that some 85 per cent of UK households are needlessly adding to their monthly bills by paying for high-speed services they do not need.
