Tesco Clubcard holders will continue receiving double points on all store and online purchases until the summer after the supermarket giant announced it is extend its double points scheme.
The retailer is running advertising campaign which states: "Double points extended until summer 2010." However, it has not ruled out continuing the promotion beyond the summer.
A Tesco spokesman said the company has not announced a specific end date for the scheme as it is still deciding on one.
He added: "The reason we are running the current adverts is that, from research, customers saw this as a temporary scheme so we want to assure them it will run for at least a few months longer."
Under the scheme, which was introduced last August, Clubcard shoppers receive two points for every £1 they spend, instead of the usual one point. Points can also be exchanged for Tesco Reward tokens.
Last week Tesco celebrated the 15th birthday of its Clubcard loyalty scheme by announcing that more than 14 million UK customers have received £120 million worth of rewards.
It has also launched a Clubcard app for the iPhone which allows Clubcard holders to earn points by scanning the phones screen at the checkout, instead of their loyalty card .
