Tesco, the UKs largest supermarket chain, has announced it will open its first airport store later this year at Glasgow International .
A new 24-hour Tesco Express outlet will open in the domestic arrivals area of the airport, offering both arriving passengers and the airport's 1,200-strong workforce the same range of food and drink as other Tesco Express stores across the UK, and at the same high street prices.
The Glasgow Airport supermarket is expected to launch in October or November and will create around 20 new jobs at the air travel hub.
Tesco Corporate Affairs Manager, Tony McElroy said: "We are delighted to be making this investment at Glasgow Airport ."
"It will allow us to cater for those holidaymakers arriving home and looking for a fantastic range of Scottish favourites at a great Tesco price ."
"Across Scotland we are investing and creating jobs this latest Tesco Express store in Glasgow Airport is a great example of our continued commitment to keeping our business fresh and trying new ideas."
He added that the company will be keeping a close eye on customer feedback to see if there is potential for more airport terminal and station-based outlets.
Amanda McMillan, Managing Director of Glasgow Airport, commented: "This is great news and Im very proud that Tesco, which is undoubtedly one of the strongest brands around today, have chosen to open their first airport store here."
