Waitrose has announced it will start selling a range of products at Shell petrol stations under a new trial partnership with the oil giant.
Sandwiches, snacks, and a small range of groceries from the supermarket will be sold at Shell service stations in the Birmingham area from this week.
If successful, the two businesses will extend the offering to more of Shells 900-plus UK forecourts in 2010
Managing director Mark Price said: "There are still millions of customers without access to a local Waitrose and we want to explore all the possibilities for making our food available to more customers."
He added that new partnership builds on plans to accelerate Waitroses presence in the convenience market through "new formats and channels".
In September, the upmarket grocer announced plans to open around 300 convenience stores in the UK over the next five to ten years.
It also revealed it was in discussions with health and beauty retailer Boots to trial the sale of product ranges in each others' stores, and was looking to open more outlets in motorway service stations under its partnership with Welcome Break .
