Sainsburys has launched a trial of its first-ever "Buy one get one free later" (BOGOFL) promotional offer, giving customers the option to buy now and pick up their free item at a later date.
The supermarkets "Buy Now- Free Next Time" initiative will initially be available across two products Pampers Baby Dry Nappies Carry Pack and Sainsburys white crusty baguettes from November 18 to 24 at 470 Sainsburys stores.
When customers purchase these products they will receive a coupon at the check-out that will enable them to claim the free product the next time they visit a Sainsburys store .
Under the offer, shoppers are limited to four promotional items per visit and have two weeks to redeem their coupons .
Gwyn Burr, Sainsburys customer director, said the initiative would give customers "unbeatable value" and that half of shoppers take coupons and vouchers home with them when they shop.
He added: "Following feedback from customers, we learnt that whilst buy one get one free promotional offers on nappies offer great value, large packs often prove difficult and cumbersome to carry around the store, they tend to take up a lot of room in the trolley and can be problematic in providing storage space at home."
Sainsburys is also offering its customers half-price deals on all baby toiletries until November 25.
