Waitrose To Offer John Lewis Homewares And Kitchen Products Online

Waitrose has announced it is to start selling non-food products from its sister company John Lewis on its website and in its busiest stores.

From Tuesday, thousands of Waitrose and John Lewis-branded kitchen and homewares items will be sold on the Waitrose.com site and in some stores as part of an effort to forge closer ties between the two businesses.

Waitrose said the move will expand its online range of non-food items and allow it to compete more closely with rivals Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons .

"Working in collaboration with John Lewis and having their products as part of our range will strengthen Waitrose’s presence on the high street even more and will give us a real opportunity to rival our four main competitors with an exceptional non-food offer which will be unmatched," said the supermarkets managing director Mark Price.

Under the joint venture online shoppers can choose to have their goods delivered to their homes or they can collect them directly from their local Waitrose store .

In a statement, Waitrose also announced that it will launch a foodhall at the John Lewis department store in the Bluewater shopping centre on Thursday.
