Morrisons has cut the price of its energy-saving light bulbs from today in a bid to offer shoppers the chance to help preserve the environment and reduce their energy bills .
The supermarket chain is offering five Philips Genie bulbs, which last up to 10 times longer than normal bulbs and use less energy, for just 50p this week across all stores nationwide .
The retailer claims that for every five ordinary bulbs replaced with the energy-saving Genie bulbs, customers can lower their electricity bills by up to £30 a year.
John Vinuesa, director of Home and Leisure at Morrisons, said: "Everyone's keeping a close eye on their shopping bills and their power bills at the moment and this amazing offer will help customers save on both."
"For just 50p, they'll get five low energy bulbs . That's not just good for their purses and wallets, it's also good for the environment as well," he added.
The green promotion is being sponsored by Energy firm Eon .
