Asda Online Recruitment Drive Underway

Asda has launched a £100,000 online recruitment campaign in a bid to boost staff numbers at its stores and its George clothing label.

Asda said the move to boost staff numbers at its George arm of the business is part of its plans to increase its fashion presence in the UK .

The UK’s second largest supermarket chain is targeting more affluent customers in an effort to become the UK's largest clothing retailer by volume by 2011.

Another key aim of the campaign is to tempt more university leavers to join its graduate training scheme, which has a starting salary of £23,000 and includes benefits such as a 10 per cent discount on Asda shopping .

Claire Fuller, the retailer’s resourcing manager, said: "Both new sites now help to communicate the unique culture of the Asda brand, meaning applicants can genuinely see whether working at Asda is right for them."

"Applications to the George business, based in Leicestershire, doubled last week through the trial phase of the site. Most applicants were from the fashion capital, London, however we were amazed to see that there were applications from across the world," she added.
