Asda Britains Fastest-Growing Wine Retailer

Asda has delivered a huge 49 per cent growth in wine sales, making it the fastest-growing wine retailer in the UK .

According to the latest data from market research company TNS, sales in the supermarket giant grew just short of 50 per cent year-on-year to September 7.

The new figures come as Asda yesterday (October 13) launched a major revamp of its wine range with the introduction of 250 new wines to cater for customers looking for £3, £10 and even £20 wines in its stores .

The Wal-Mart owned retailer is offering shoppers a 'three for £10' wine promotion on some leading brands, aimed at highlighting its 600-strong wine range.

Karen Doran, head of wine trading at the Asda, said: "We are the fastest-growing wine retailer in the UK . As well as the 49 per cent value growth, our market share has risen by 34.3 per cent over a 12-week period."

"Our market share stands at 15.5 per cent and shows Asda's commitment to delivering quality wines, combined with value prices, is really hitting the mark with customers," she added.
