Supermarket giant Asda has expanded its range of frozen halal meats in an effort to provide Muslim customers with a wider variety of products that adhere to strict religious principles.
The Wal Mart owned grocer will now include the following products in its frozen halal range: chicken burgers, lamb burgers, whole chickens, nuggets, frankfurters, doner kebabs, kofta kebabs, and meat balls.
“Asda is delighted to be extending its frozen world food ranges,” said Vicki Cooper, Asda’s ethnic frozen food buyer. “We are committed to offering all our customers a great choice of products at the best possible prices.”
Asda’s halal produce is sourced directly from Tahira Foods, Europe’s leading halal specialist .
Faiza Akmal, account manager for Tahira Foods, stressed the need for Muslim shoppers to have a one-stop shop for all their halal foods .
“Today, more and more Muslims want to buy halal products when they do their one-stop shopping . Offering a comprehensive selection of frozen meats is an important step towards meeting this need.
“Because they already recognise and trust both the Asda and Tahira names, they can now do this with complete confidence,” Akmal added.
