Asda has received a top environmental accolade for its efforts in reducing waste and cutting packaging in its own-brand products.
The UK’s second-largest supermarket chain was awarded the Management Category trophy at this year’s Environmental Leadership Awards run by Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE).
Judges were said to have been impressed by Asda’s “common sense approach” towards going green and making sustainability more accessible and affordable for its customers.
The BCE Environmental Leadership Awards are the longest running, and one of the most prestigious, environmental awards held each year in the UK .
Founded in 1975, the BCE Awards are sponsored by businesses for business, and are handed out to companies that judges recognise as “meeting the commercial demands of the present, without compromising the environment for future generations”.
