Asda has slashed the price of its designer two-piece suit to just £15.

The single-breasted, three-button black suit, made entirely of polyester, usually costs £25 - £19 for the jacket and £6 for the trousers but will now go on sale £10 cheaper for just five days, starting this Wednesday and ending on Sunday.

Asda hopes the suit’s new knockdown price will entice cash-strapped customers to snap up all of the 60,000 suits in stock .

Asda said the suit’s design is inspired by the Milan catwalks and insists it would not be embarrassed in the company of a Versace .

Fiona Lambert, brand director of Asda's George fashion range, commented: "We've tailored the price but not cut on the design quality, meaning that for £15 you can get Savile Row-inspired tailoring at supermarket prices."

Shoppers at Asda have already seen the price of a tuxedo drop to just £35, while parents have been able to buy their kids’ school uniform for just £10.

The retailer said its low prices were made possible through buying the static-generating material by the mile instead of by the yard and making savings by economies of scale . It also insists that the suits are ethically sourced from both China and Bangladesh .
