A non-food sales drive by supermarket chain Sainsbury's is to create 150 new jobs in Coventry .
The grocer is moving its general merchandise department in Holborn to its TU clothing headquarters based just off the M6 in Coventry .
The recruitment drive is part of the retailer's plans to create a non-food centre of excellence, with jobs being offered across a wide variety of roles, including product design, merchandising and buying.
The UK's third largest supermarket chain said it aims to increase sales by £3.5 billion through the new business strategy, with a third of the sales expected to come from non-food products .
Sainsbury's head of general merchandise, Richard Jones, commented: "Recruiting 150 people to our non-food team shows how important non-food growth is to our business .
"We have ambitious plans and we have put into place the necessary capabilities and infrastructure to ensure that we can deliver ."
"Coventry is an ideal location for our team - the city offers fantastic transport links to the whole of the UK and our building is ideal for all our business needs," he added.
