Asda has revealed strong sales figures for November, driven by a massive rise in new shoppers.
The supermarket giant said its impressive performance was due to its core food range and new store openings, which helped welcome an extra 900,000 shoppers during the four-week period.
Asda opened seven new stores in the UK last month more than in any other month in the past three years.
Asda chief executive Andy Bond said: "Our strategy of offering shoppers everyday low prices across both food and non-food continues to deliver strong sales and market-share gains."
"The extra 900,000 customers coming through our doors is clear proof that our strategic focus is the right one for these difficult times."
He added: "In food, we are growing at almost twice the rate of Tesco and Sainsburys and ahead of Morrisons and, even in non-food, we are one of the best performing retailers both in terms of volume and value."
