Sainsbury’s is set to launch a spooky range of Halloween peppers throughout its stores nationwide .
Shoppers will now have the chance to pick an alternative to the traditional pumpkin, with its creepy cutting patterns sure to give trick-or-treaters a spooky surprise.
The Halloween peppers come in a two-pack which includes one orange and one unnerving black pepper .
The unusual pepper is a unique variety grown by Leon Barendse &Karel Berkhout in the Netherlands and has been exclusively produced by fruit and vegetable specialist The Greenery.
John-Paul Burton, Greenery UK’s commercial manager, said: "We are always looking for different varieties of fruit and vegetables to can offer our customers."
"These black peppers are only available for a short period, but have come out just in time for Halloween ."
He added: "Mums and dads can use the peppers as a tasty alternative to the usual pumpkin, while children can carve out a scary face to create a mini Halloween lantern – making these more of a treat than a trick."
