Morrisons To Offer Halal Meat Ranges

UK supermarket chain Morrisons has teamed up with Halal food specialists Tahira Foods to provide shoppers a variety of frozen meats.

The move is part of the supermarket’s strategy to attract more halal-conscience customers to shop at their stores .

The selection of meat products available at selective stores – all produced according to strict Halal regulations - ranges from Grill Steaks to Lamb Burgers, Chicken Frankfurters, Escalopes and Meat Samosas.

Morrisons’ claims that this is also the first time that branded, frozen Halal meats have been offered to the store's customers .

Tahira Foods executive, Faiza Akmal, commented: "Today, more and more Muslims want to buy Halal products when they do their one-stop shopping . Because they already recognise and trust the Tahira name, they can now do this with complete confidence ."

Matthew Bruno, world foods buyer for Morrisons, explained: "We tailor our foods and drink offering to meet the demands of different cultures and are thrilled to be stocking a range of frozen Halal products for our customers ."
