Waitrose Begins Online Home-Delivery In Scotland

Waitrose, part of the ‘big four’ UK supermarket chains, has finally launched its first online home delivery service in Scotland .

The move comes just over a year since the premium grocery retailer opened its first two stores north of the border in Edinburgh .

Waitrose, part of the John Lewis Partnership, is now able to deliver groceries to more than half a million homes in Edinburgh and much of the Midlothian region through its Waitrose Deliver service . The service will cost shoppers up to £5, with a minimum order of £50.

David Lincoln, Store manager for the Morningside branch, said he was confident the new home delivery service would prove to be a success with a wide range of people across the city.

"We also offer a home delivery service for people who have come to the store for their shopping but maybe don’t have their own transport to take the goods home," he added.

"Customers who choose to shop online may be anxious about the fact that they can’t pick the produce themselves, but we can guarantee that the products they receive will be of the best quality with a good shelf life."

In addition, delivery drivers can help reduce packaging waste by collecting and taking back empty bags to the store for recycling .
