Doctor’s in-store could be the latest inclusion in supermarkets.
So when you go to your local supermarket for your weekly shop, you could also visit the resident GP and collect your prescription from the in-store pharmacy .
Sainsbury’s is currently in talks with Public Health Minister Caroline Flint over these Government proposals. There are also proposals for the GP surgeries to fit in with people’s busy lives. However critics believe ministers are giving supermarkets more control over people’s lives.
An option being considered is to have a walk-in centre where an appointment will not be needed.
It wasn’t so long ago when supermarkets won the right to dispense drugs , a step that caused chemists much concern and outrage. Many larger supermarkets now have pharmacists who can who can hand out prescriptions.
